Been wanting to change the optic setup on my scar 17 for awhile now. Currently a monarch 7 3-12x56 in a ADM mount sits on it. Having a hard time deciding between a trijicon accupoint or the new nightforce 1-8. I have an acog on my 16s but wanted more precision type on the 17. If anyone has any experience with them or other suggestions it would be highly appreciated.
I don't know what you plan on shooting or how much shooting or necessity for fast target acquisition, etc. Your question is open ended without a stated purpose. So.... I've always used the linked chart/s to measure the resolving power(it's ability to clearly id detail) as a means of determining what optic would be best for my purposes. I believe scope resolution trumps all other obvious optical standards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951_USAF_resolution_test_chart
'Don't know how your going to be able to use before the purchase. Maybe you can borrow someone's rifle mounted optic, or make an arrangement with seller. Good luck.
If you’re looking for a 1-8 and don’t want to spend a bunch of money (I. Case you decide to go a different route) the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 is good and has a great reticle (bdc). It’s no razer or pst but still good if you want some distance and don’t want to break the bank.
There is a 1-6 Strike Eagle with a Leupold mount in the “for sale” section for a really good price. I’ve got one and love it.
