this is probaly a realy dumb question . i'm going to rebarrel an older 10/22 which length barrel should i use a 20 inch or maybe a 16 already know where the barrel is coimg from because hi desert dog has the stock that iwant is longer better or short this gun is going to be target only

I've been doing some research for the same thing lately and from what I read the barrel has done it's job after 16"-17". Some will say you start losing velocity from friction if you go longer than 16" and others say 20" doesn't help but it doesn't hurt because the exiting gases keep the bullet from slowing down.
I'll probably go with a bull 16" if I buy one just because I like the look and I doubt it would make any difference for any shooting that I would do anyway. :thumbup:

i am currently in the process of rebuilding two right now and i went went the 18" stainless fluted thats threaded. ha so i am right between 16 an 20.
