MAN.... the M1 Carbine is a pleasure to shoot. Light weight and low recoil. Therefore, with beautiful weather in the morning (hotter for Relay 2), I have to chalk this match up as one of the best (most FUN). Yes, the targets are at 100yds, but the "black bull" is half the size (6") as the 200yd targets (12").

13 shooters came out to shoot the Carbine match. Quite a few were first time HP shooters. I hope they had fun and will try another HP match with either a Garand, Carbine or AR-15. I do want to make a request..... You all need to go search for Captain. He was MIA today. I think he is forgetting to take his "memory pills". He might be wandering I-55 looking for a ride to the Coast to go fishing............... :)

OK........................... The Scores............

Scores pending M1GarandFan's verification.....

Now for some PICTURES.................. (with my silly comments..... :) )

Relay 1 getting ready.

Relay 2 getting ready.

My spot for the match. Relay 1 - Target 1.

Before M1GarandFan and I setup the targets, someone flew over and dropped this.......
I think I saw Captain's face in that plane............ :) The bomb stayed there the whole match and didn't get shot....
After the match we just threw it in the back of M1GarandFan's truck so he could deal with it........

Shoe getting ready to "whip out" his Carbine............. :)

Shoe working on Target No. 2...........

Someone please tell these 2 knuckleheads that Carbines run better WITHOUT the chamber flags inserted......... :)

Parker checking the zero on his stainless steel Carbine. His Carbine didn't want to run so he borrowed mine.
I might never get the sights adjusted back the way I had them........... :)

Nommie getting his Carbine zeroed.

Shoe took some pictures so maybe he will post a few (many).

I do have some videos, but those will take longer to get posted here. Stay tuned............

You folks that missed the Carbine match today.... MISSED a FUN match.

Well, I survived my first match. Had a great time and learned a lot. For those of you that keep thinking "someday I'm going to do it" just jump in. A great bunch of folks will help you through it step-by-step. I guarantee you'll be back for more. Can't think of a finer way to spend a morning, unless it's blasting green plastic army men!

A hundred yards may not be far, but those black circles look awfully small to me:

SubGunFan prone on Target 1, DMC49 on Target 2:

"How'd I do? How'd I do?":

1st Relay Sitting:

And we get to stretch our legs:

And, finally, SGF's "prize" for top score, he gets to blast away with a BAR. Don't think he hit anything but I'm sure they heard it all the way downtown. Should have shot it earlier, maybe it would have helped wake up Captain-03.

Now, I just have to figure out a way to rearrange my work schedule so I can make the Garand Match in two weeks. I'm hooked.

We had a great turnout for the Carbine match! We had at least four new shooters for the match and everyone did well on their scores. I've got a couple of pictures plus a couple of short videos that I will post tomorrow when I can get to the cord that I accidentally left at work for my camera.

Glad to see we have another shooter who is hooked (Shoe).

Scores are correct except for Black. He had a 76 on his Slow Fire Prone, so his score should be a 278.

 Glad to see that no one hit the "bomb" and made it go off :rotflmao:

Congrats Dan! You brought your A game!

I didn't know the winner gets to shoot the BAR else I'd have been more committed! I feel like a retard for cranking my windage the wrong way shooting slow prone. It's bad when you outshoot your prone score standing.

Here's probably the only site dedicated to commercial carbines if you want to learn about Plainfields and Universals. http://m1carbinesinc.com/

SGF & Shoe, Great pictures! Fun day!

For the first time ever to shot a M1 Carbine, my next door neighbor, Black did extremely well. Consiering he had to compensate for a Carbine that shoots 12 - 15 " high.

That was really fun!!
I always enjoyed shooting the Carbine, never really shot it at a lil bullseye tho..
200yrd mark is close enough to dead on at 100yds :D

That Carbine Parker was shooting is my Aunts. It hasnt been shot much at all, so im gonna start shooting it and get it broken in good. Parker had a awesome group goining.
The Carbine i was shooting has been handed down thru the family and its seen its fair share of use and abuse.
I think the barrel is about shot out, but it runs without hickups.

I guess Nonnie and Parker have been looking through OPTICS too much lately in F-Class..... You guys need to get back to basics... (iron sights). :)

Glad you guys enjoyed the Carbine match.
