Anyone with Mauser knowledge here? I've tried to research this a couple of other times and was told this is a rare early model 1893 Spanish. Rare, I think, because it has no crest and it has a German receiver. "DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN"

Any info is appreciated.

There were 1893 Spanish Mauser rifles made by DWM and Ludwig Loewe. Loewe started the DWM company in 1896. The crest has probably been removed from the rifle, for some reason. I would not call the rifle rare but it is unusual.

Lots of crests were scrubbed during the civil war and it's probably one of those. Doug is right though it is unusual.
