I won't go there, 'cause I really don't understand WTH we're talking about here. The full-length guide rod protrudes out below the barrel, when the slide is moved rearward?

Yes old 1911s didnt have guide rods new ones do. THe bar that sticks out is the guide rod.

All of mine have FLGR's. All of mine function flawlessly. Keeping in mind that JMB did have to deal with the (highly efficient) federal government when finalizing his design, he likely did several things he didn't necessarily wanna do with the design. Like the grip safety, for example. Not on his original design.

I've toyed with changing one of mine out, but... why? If it works, it works.
