I went this morning after cleaning my Savage 116FHSS 300Win Mag and wanted to foul my barrel for this hunting season where I will be using the 165gr on deer. So, used a five shot group of and adjusted load using the 208gr A-max, Win Brass, CCI250 Primers and IMR4350, moving at 2749fps. The first round through the barrel is the flyer to the right and the other four are pretty much in a good group after the fouling round. I think after hunting season I have potential to develop this into a long range round. I just love the consistency of my Savage. This is a fine rifle. It will shoot 165gr, 180gr 200gr and now 208gr bullets with very good accuracy. I wish now that I had loaded ten more rounds so I could watch the next two five shot groups really tighten up. Something to look forward to this coming winter and spring.

nice groups, Looks MOD (minute of deer) to me already.

I have been hearing great things out of the Savages- looks to me like stock out of the box they are outshooting most of the remingtons these days. Savage seems to really be listning to what their customers want.

I have a box of 208 Amax sittin on my bench.. but ive had good luck with the 210gr Bergers i havent really done much other testing.

I might load some on the same charge im using with the 210s..
70.5gr H4831 gives me 2850 with the 210s... last time i shot it with no wind it gave me a 2.5" and a 1.5" 3 shot group at 600yds.

Cant wait for a deer to step out on the other side of the field now.. :D

What distance was that? My factory ADL shot some good groups also. It is .30-06. 165 Hornady BTSP over W760 into .636 at 200 yards. It also shot 220 Sierra Match King over W760 into under an inch at 200.
100yds was the distance. This load is very promising because I was not anticipating this considering I had never tried this load and was not trying to really shoot with a lot of focus. I was just trying to foul my barrel so my hunting load would do what it always does and I would be ready for deer season.
