I've yet to buy any good ammo for my savage so I went to midwayusa and created a wish list of .22 ammo. All things target and match that didn't cost $20 or more in some cases. I racked up $100 easy now to see if I can sneak it by the wife.

Is a box of 50 good enough to see if your gun likes it or do you need 100?

If you shoot on a calm day, I believe 50 is enough. You can find your best performers and buy more of those to test more. Then, when you find what works best and, in my case, what you can afford, buy as much as you can! A case or two would be good, but if you are like me, financially unreasonable.

I bought a bunch of diff kinds. I still have 10 brands to try. Id blast thru the whole 50 to just get an idea of what they are gonna do and note any flyers.
Did you try the Armscor .22 ammo? The few reviews I have seen on it are good, thinking about getting a couple of boxes to try.

No i didnt.. from now on im not gonna use anything supersonic thru that gun. For one its alot quieter with the suppressor and subs.. :D

I tried some BVAC and it hit the paper,, Minimags did the best for a supersonic but it was still only about a 3" group.

Well, in my limited experience with .22, you probably need to put 50 rds or so of whatever (cheap stuff) through it to prime the gun first. I was in hopes that something odd like CCI standard would shoot tiny groups. Alas, my Savage MKII, like my Savage 308 F-Class gun likes the good stuff. Saturday it displayed an affinity for Ten-X. Which prompted me to say ,"*#&^%$&". It shot Wolf Target Match sort of OK. This afternoon, once again it said. " I really like Federal Premium Match." Again I say *&^#$%. However, it is cheaper than Ely Ten-X (But so is a trip to the French Riviera.)
