I bought my wife a savage 17 hmr and was looking to buy my self a 22 mag. Just not sure if theres much of a differance? Ive found Savage the be the best Bang for the buck What would you recommend in a 22 mag or 17?

and for what intended purpose is this rifle....



Varmit hunting...yotes and stuff or just plinking

I got both...17 hmr more accurate...ammo more expensive...

22 Mag ammo easier to get...cheaper

why have 2 types of ammo around for rimfire unless you just want it.

both are a bit hot for small critters like squirrels...that is if you are a meat hunter


Unless you are a gunaholic, I'd probably get another 17 just to keep things simple...

If its varmits...and you can afford the higher priced ammo...17 HMR then

17 is a speedy little devil...light weight so wind messes with it more...

That Savage you got for your wife ought to be awesome...Man I think I'd just shoot hers...
