When I was around 20-21 years old and would hang around brandon gun and pawn (been closed for years) the owner (graham gray, aka GRUMPY) would sit around and talk, there I met Steve mahaffey.... and there began my introduction to the 257 weatherby magnum...... mahaffey always lived by SPEED KILLS. Well I played with many other calibers never found THE 257 bee I wanted until a couple of weeks ago remington model 700 lss...... purchased from a gracious member here who passed it to me (its last owner until I pass) needless to say my wait was justified amazed by speed accuracy and lack of recoil.... 3404 fps average chronograph speeds on factory load 115 nosler bt. .524 and .534 on two 5 shot 100 yard strings.... to me it's like having your own little lightning rod... for all the hype and even with the age of the weatherby caliber it didn't disappoint one bit..... if you ever thought about one. Try it.
