I load a 30-338. I don't have my loads handy but will get back with you. Look back at some topics as we have discussed this before. Ed Hunter has given some great info on this caliber.

I neck down 338 mag brass to get 30-338. It's cheaper than buying new brass.

See below. These are from 1964. They are offered only as suggestions. At the time I had a custom 30-338 Win Mag made by E A Craven, Bend OR: Douglas barrel, FN action, French Walnut hand-checkered roll-over comb stock. My grandson has it now. I've got to get him to send me some pictures.

I have four other Excel spreadsheets with more detailed loading information (suggestions) that I would be happy to send you. If you will send me your email address I’ll send them to you as attachments.

is this not also known as the 308 norma mag?
Not to get into a bunch of yah-yah, but I think you’ll find the 308 Norma is based on the .300 H&H Magnum.

The 30-338 is based on the 338 Win Mag (and 358 Win Mag). I’d just necked down virgin .338 Win Mag brass.

PS –I’ve sent my daughter an email asking if she will get some pictures of my old 30-338.

I wrote 6 weeks ago, “I’ve sent my daughter an email asking if she will get some pictures of my old 30-338.”.

Well, they have arrived. So here we go. 30-338 Win Mag built for me by E A Craven of Bend OR (previously of Hanford CA) in the mid- to late-60’s - Douglas barrel, FN action, French Walnut rollover-comb hand-checkered stock. This is not the original scope. My grandson owns it now. And, I believe he has replaced the recoil pad. I don't think the original was that thick(!).

It was a pretty nice rifle (do miss it). A little heavy but that was OK.

It turns out the 308 Norma Mag is based off the 30-338 and the 300 Weatherby Mag is based on the 300 H&H. The only reason I know the 300 wby is based off the 300 H&H is because I have a pre 64 win mod 70 that was one of the first 300 H&H mags to be re-chambered to a 300 wby mag. Before you had 300 wby brass or ammo at all, you had to form-fire 300 H&H brass to the 300 wby chamber. The 308 norma is norma's copy of the 30-338 win mag. You can even use load data from any book
(from the 308 Norma data) to load 30-338 win mag. Same c.o.l.to bullet used and powder...everything. It is pretty cool. I will combine your suggested load data with whatever i find and when I get some good results I will definitely share.

It is beautiful...plus I'd almost forgotten what typewriter copy looked like, THAT brings back memories for me.
