When I was a kid, I bought a No 1 Mk III* mfg by Enfield in 1918.It is still in my closet and has a mint bore in spite of all the corrosive primed ammo I have fired in it. When I was 16, I bought a box of Remington 215 gr RN ammo. That was all that was available at the time (1958). I went deer hunting with my Bruder in Law, Ted Brooks. He put me on a stand and a black bear came up the trail. I popped him with the 215 gr bullet and hit him in the shoulder, He dropped instantly and died very quickly. I had a rope and tied it to the bear's front legs. I started dragging it out of the woods. All went well until I started downhill with snow on the ground. That SOB'n bear ran me over and dragged me to the bottom of the hill. We laid the bear on a table at the Farm and skinned the bear. It looked like a naked man on the table.surehuntsalot said:I have a MKIII made in Australia in 1942
I deer hunt with it from time to time, great whitetail round
If he has the original stock and nothing else has been messed with ,,,, and the bore is good .. $200 is a fair price IMHO ...g8gt140 said:also looking at a No 4 Mk 1 British .303. the stock has been cut down (sporitidized) or how ever you spell it.. What would be the value of one with this type of stock.. number match and bore not bad. I see alot of prices that vary by 100's of dollars.. He want 200 and i'm not convinced that is a good by.
any info would be appriciated.
thanks
