Be careful with H&R's in 35 Whelen...the early ones had headspace problems....and they were discontinued for a while

I think its been corrected now....but How does one know if He has an "early" one or not...

I've never seen any other serial # info given out...

maybe someone else has some more updated 411...

I'd be leary though...

As far as the cartridge is concerned...Its bad ass....I'm having a Savage Bolt action in '06 converted right now.

I personally would never fire an H&R Handi rifle. The idea of having cartridges that generate 50,000+ PSI in a single shot shotgun action scares me to death. I want a Mauser style rifle that has a bit more safety built into it.

There was a used H&R in 35 Whelen on the wall at Pawn Shop Plus in Hattiesburg a while back -- approximately two months ago. I don't know anything about age or condition. Just saw it up on the wall there. Might have been a $275 price tag on it, but don't quote me on that.

I forgot to mention that this rifle had a scope on it.

I have one in a TC Encore. 35 Whelen is just a necked up 30-06. I have taken a doe with this gun using a 200 grain soft point. I like mine.

I have a mauser action with schillen barrel on it in 35 whelen, its become my favorite rifle to hunt with! Had the Black T put on it last year and havent even had a chance to fire it yet......i personally dont think you can go wrong with the 35...just my 2 cents though

T/C Encore Pro Hunter

I have one of the Pro Hunter 35 Whelen, 28" SS fluted barrel with factory compensator. Yeah, it cost me- but it drives tacks
@ two hundred yards. Balistic range is +1" @200 yards and MPBR 254 yds w/ 200 gr slug. Get some of the Superforance at Vans and stretch this out a bit further. A 30/06 may give you another 15-25 yds but NOWHERE near the same knockdown.
I put the other rifles in the safe and only shoot my T/C with the 35 Whelen or a 7mm/08. Other than a shotgun for ducks, dove and turkey - this floats my boat.
Tight groups, well placed
