I bought some 250gr Partitions for my 358Win and did a quick load using Tac powder, CCI250gr Primers, Win brass, OAL 2.839", so I could hunt the last day of the rifle season tomorrow with the 250gr load. I am going to work with after hunting season, H4895, IMR4895 and AA2495BR. I did not know what to expect, but I knew that my Ruger Hawkeye has shot everything I have put through it pretty well. This load gave me a group of .7545" at a velocity average of 2403fps. Surprisingly it did not recoil bad and man does that round hit like a hammer and give me so much while having a very manageable recoil. I am sighted 2.8" high at 100yds giving me a zero of 200yds with a point blank of 255yds and the highest point above line of sight is 2.8" from 97yds to 129yds. At 260yds hold cross hair on top of shoulder and good to 325yds. Might not see anything tomorrow, but I will be ready to put a big hole through a deer or hog for sure if I see one. :)

Well, no luck. At 4:30am when I was going down a dirt road to my area to hunt a doe bolted across the road with an 8 point buck right on her tail. They turned up the side of the road toward me and ran right past my window along side of me, no more than about 3 yards from the side of my truck, as though I did not exist. I said to myself, "this is going to be a good day." Well, I saw nothing all morning. Had to leave and go to work around 10:00am but I had fun just anticipating that something might happen. I already can't wait till next year to make up for this one. Only thing I took this year was a doe. Didn't have any hunting trips planned for this year but hopefully will have two to go on next year. Yep, I got it bad, will have to do some shooting to hold me off this spring and early summer. Man, I am looking forward to trying out this load on game. Well, I hope you all have had a great hunting season, I did by just being in the woods. At least that is what I am telling myself so I don't go into depression. :) :) :)

Nothing, except I want a heavier load, for some bear work next year and the heavier load can do all the other work that my 358Win will do. Also, the Partition is a far better hunting bullet than the Accubond. I have used them both over the years and the Partition from any angle shot on big game does what I want in spades. The Partition's un-bonded front portion open up quickly and delivers like the BT and Sierra G/K creating dynamic shock and the back portion penetrates and exits leaving a great blood trail. Has more dynamic shock than the Accubond and out penetrates the Accubond. We have done test and the Partition actually creates a better wound channel while out penetrating the Accubond. It simply is a better bullet and has a great BC to boot.

we might differ some on this but i feel like the partion has a place as being able to "break down" big game at close range better were the bulk of the bullets energy is being deposited. once you get out past 150-200 yards and the speed is starting to bleed off its six of one half dozen of the other. personally i like the expansion of the accubond.. Another personal opinion again but once you get larger than 338 cal i think the swift a frame is better "partitioned" bullet. its all about the right bullet for the right situation. since were talking about close work on bears, why not load woodleigh soft nose bullets???

Because I have killed bears on and off for 20yrs and the Partitions put them on the ground kick and they have so far all exited. I want the quick shock factor brought on by the none bonded front because it disorients the bear much quicker in my humble opinion since I have use both the A-Frame and Partition. Just as the Partition did for me on a 500 pound lion I had to shoot that was coming for me and by the time I pulled trigger it was just 25yds away, it was real close, when I was in Tanzania in 1991. The A-Frame does not open as quick and works a little different. I like the A-Frame on Cape Buffalo, but the Partition on everything else I shot over there. I also like it on both bears and Moose. Just in passing, I hit a deer coming toward me last year not knowing I was there and the partition just slammed him to the ground and he did not even move. It was a quartering shot and great exit, but he was done in his tracks. It shook him violently, and that is due to the none bonded front.
