Are .45-70 bullets the same diameter as .458 Socom bullets? I may be reloading for the .45-70 soon.

If anyone has dies they're not using, I'll need some.

Yes, jacketed 45-70 bullets are .458. Lead bullets can be .458 or .459.

Thanks. I saw some bullets on Midway that were labelled .458 Socom. They are boat tail spire points. I thought they might work well in a .45-70.

I assume your talking about the Barnes. They should work ok in a single shot but definitely not in a tubular magazine. The polymer tip is not soft like the Hornady LEVERevolution.
