ok so im new to this NFA deal... I need to know why in the heck is a 50 cal can so freaking expensive!!!! OMG
$2,000 bucks plus the stamp.... I have seen suppressed 500sw's and i know those can's were not that expensive. Are these guys building their own on and then registering it with the ATF?
Educate me please

Here is my take. There is a limited amount of people making them so it is partly lack of supply driving cost. The second part is the construction of the can. If you have ever held a .50 cal can you can tell right away they are built like a tank. They have to be because they are eating up the muzzle pressure from a huge shell. If you want one that is relatively light and will take the beating a .50 puts on a can you are just going to have to pay.

I believe that there are a few .50 cans in the silencer smithing forum at silencertalk.com. If I were going to build one I would make sure that I had every weld checked before I put one down the pipe.

THis is not going on a 50BMG I have seen those an understand why they are built like that were talking pressure levels of a 500 smith or 50beuwolf
If it were me I would buy a .30 cal can and have a machinest make a bigger hole! That is crazy money, but I bet there are only a few manufacturers who make them so they charge what they want.
