Remington 600 in 6mm with 4x Leupold compact scope. I like a short barrel hunting rifle; prefer 95-100 grain bullets. It's not a target rifle, but it gets the job done.

I first got a Remington 742 in 6mm Remington in the early 1970's and killed many a deer with it. Later I got a Ruger 77 in 6mm. You've heard a lot about the .243 Winchester. They both shoot the same bullet with the 6mm Rem. shooting them just a little bit faster. The 6mm is a great caliber - very effective on deer. That said, in recent years I've hunted mostly with my Marlin lever actions (.357 mag., .44 mag., and two 30-30's) just because they're so much fun to carry around and shoot. Two are scoped and two have peep sights.
