Actually, I have some 115 gr. Hornady Critical Defense but not enough to even fill my mag, just something someone gave me. I’m considering switching to this completely, but my only concern is the pencil eraser looking piece getting crusty over time like when you use the eraser on an old pencil, and it’s slick and hard. If there’s something better out there in the form of a traditional JHP, I’m all ears.

Well, look at it like this: a person can have lots of fun and learn quite a bit tuning loads (GRIN). Seriously, if it were me, I'd start with something like a couple of different 147gr FMJ RNs and maybe a coated bullet or two just to see, with a coupla-three powders, and start punching paper. Just a personal opinion, but if I had a 9mm that wouldn't reliably feed RN, I'd work on the gun before I worked on loads for it.
