I stop Academy Sports in Gulfport this afternoon on the way to work and was talking to a friend of mine that works the gun counter. He showed me a Marlin XL7 bolt action 25-06 that they had on sale for $259.00. He said Academy was not going to be selling them anymore. Reg price was $329.00. He said he bought one for his granddaughter and he really liked it. Just a heads up if anybody was looking for rifle in that cablier and was going to be down that way for the Gun show this Sat and Sunday.

Too bad I'm not down that way!! I have a Remington 700 .25-06 that used to be my main deer rifle, but it has become a safe queen now that I have a Savage 30-06. I'd love to get a companion .25-06 to keep my Remington company, and I've heard great things about the new Marlins. Sounds like someone will get a tremendous buy.

PS anybody know a cheap source of .25-06 ammo? (don't say reload, I'm not there yet).
