Wow , ordered 6 different items with gift cards curiosity of work from the Academy Sports online. Qualified for free shipping on all items. Package 1 is in transit, yep package 1, they are going to send each item as a separate shipment, LOL. Kinda hard to believe they are not going broke shipping this way.

It’s coincidence more than anything. Items are shipped from the store(closest to the customer), not a warehouse. Online orders was one of my duties when I first started there. If you absolutely can’t find an item or it’s out of stock, you ship what you can and the rest of the order is forwarded to the next store closest to the customer.

I used to be able to open the academy website on my phone but now it just gets stuck loading. Don't have that issue with any other site. Never ordered from them but checked prices a lot and still buy ammo in the stores.

Oh I'm a happy camper $160 dollars I didn't have to pay for and free shipping to boot. Can't beat that.

We had an old guy that was hired whose sole responsibility was online orders. Made ~$25/hr from what I was told by an old manager. Old, helpless and weird as could be. Nice guy, but strange.

I’ll never forget, I clocked in one day for my evening shift and he sees me, hands me a massive list and says “let me show you where everything is...blah blah is there, such and such is on the top shelf in a box...” I finally looked at him and said “so you went around and found everything on this list?” “Yep.” “But you didn’t pick any of it?” “Nope.” Looked at me like I was the idiot and he walked off.

That’s the real shipping expense.

Last week I ordered a package of breakfast sausage seasonings and a bucket of 22's. The seasonings came from the Flowood store and the bullets came from Cypress, TX. They both got here on the same day. The bullets weren't packaged correctly and the bucket bottom was broken open and the box was full of loose 22lr's. Free shipping so I didn't even have to use any gasoline.

Academy had 20% off coupon the other day. I was making an order but decided to go to the store. They said the coupon was online only. I get online and the the item is a dollar more on the website. I get some online help and the person sends me a coupon code for $1 off. I tell them I want the $1 and the 20% off. Says they can't help me and I would have to call in to make that happen. Whatever... I forget about the order until today. The coupon code isn't working now. So I google coupons and find that for a good while now folks had been stacking a 10% coupon and a 20% coupon and getting 30% off on anything and everything on Academy's website including the guns!!!!

I actually saw the 20% coupon working with the guns but they didn't have anything that I saw I saw that I wanted. 30% and knowing I was getting around a FFL fee would've had me looking a little harder.

Per rumors on the akfiles, the 20% coupon and the 10% coupon (mentioned here over in the "Good Deals Thread") could be stacked (combined/both used on one order) for one Sunday only (someone at Academy messed up), so some lucky folks got 30% off and free shipping (several folks at akfiles reported receiving their orders or shipping notices). Why, oh why, didn't I try stacking them on an in store gun delivery during that window? Sigh.
