Ive got a Rem 700 ADL in 25-06. This gun will shoot three shot groups into 1.5 inch or a little less at 100yd with handloads. I did not like the cheap plastic stock or the trigger on this gun. I bought a Timney trigger (1 to 4lb) and a bell and carlson carbelite stock. I plan on glass bedding this action. Here is the question. Should I bed just the action and completely float the barrel, bed the action and part of the barrel, or bed the action and the entire barrel? The gun has a sporter weight barrel. I have read that some light barrels prefer full length bedding, some prefer a floated barrel, and some prefer a bedded action with a pressure point at the end of the forearm. Any advice? First hand experience? This will be my 1st bedding job.. Thanks for any help...

bed action and tang area and the last 1 inch of the stock sporter weight barrels usually shoot better with a little pressure and if it doesnt put peice of sand paper around a 3/4 bar and sand a little of the pressure pad off

My experiance with a negant I did it full length. Where the barrel starts I put an even layer of tape doubled I think all the way out to the end of the stock to get a uniform clearance. It worked great you could slide a dollar bill all the way to the action. Some say pillar bedding is the way to go but I have not tried that yet.
I bedded the tang and recoil lug area and the first two inches of the barrel. I did not bed a pressure point at the end of the forearm. This gun shoots great now. It went from 1.3" three shot groups to .438" 5 shot groups (100gr sieera prohunters and RL-22). The bedding job wasnt that hard to do but I was very nervous while waiting the 24 hours before I could see IF the gun would come back apart.
