That must be one of the Finnish Mosins. Tikka is actually a old company. It later was bought out and merged with Sako and became a part of BERETTA. Finland is one country that succesfully stopped Russia from overtaking it.

Actually, Finland got their independence from Russia, then kept the Soviet Union from retaking it. :D

Tikka rifles have always been well-built, reliable, and accurate. In my 63 years of messing around with guns, I've never heard of anybody having any serious problems with one that couldn't be traced to poor ammo, poor maintenance, or poor technique.

They fought to get that independance. I have owned a Tikka deluxe model with a stainless 300 wsm barrel for 15 or so years and it is a fine rifle

I have a friend that had a nice tikka 25-06 until last year when he accidentally put a 308 round in it and pulled the trigger. The stock split on it about a inch in the tang area and it busted the bolt shroud. The action held up under the pressure but it set the locking lugs back a bit and walked a way with minor injuries
Okay, I am just curious as to how someone can put a 308 into a rifle chambered for 25-06, get the bolt to close and fire it off.

The .308 will chamber in most any rifle chambered for a .30-06 based round, as will a lot of shorter rounds. I had a fine custom .270 stolen from me a few years ago and, since it was built on a small-ring Mauser action, always kinda hoped they stuffed an 8x57mm round in it and set it off! ;)
