Greetings All,

Purchased the S&W SD9 for my wife as a Christmas present. Seems to be a good gun. Shoots everytime, feels good in the hand and is fairly accurate with decent sights. Not an M&P but better than a Sigma. Anyone else have one in the 9 or 40? Thinking about another or maybe save up for a 1911. And what are some good SD rounds in 9?

Take care,

Thanks, will do that. Shot my friends Springfield Armory 1911 .45 at the range last outing, wow. The 1911 will be my next gun, now I have to decide which one. Thinking about making it my Valentine's, anniversary, birthday & Christmas from everyone, so looking for suggestions in the $1000 range. Now if my M&P 15-22 will hurry up and get here!

Grab you a box of Hornady Critical Defense or Remington Golden Saber to have a cartridge with a good nose if this is to be a defense pistol. Whatever you choose do right and test gun. I've considered the SD9 after experience with Sigma(bad trigger)(ergonomics good) since this is basically an improvement of same. Kind of want to try one just so I'll know. The trigger is supposed to be the main improvement along with better sights. Let us know how you like it...P.S. that's what I like about the 1911-A1...couple of minutes and it's got another fan...

So far we have about 700 rounds through it, only 2 FTE's and one was the ammo had a rough casing. The trigger is smoother than my friends stock Sigma, he really likes it. Let the range officer run a few rounds when he was giving my wife some pointers, he liked it as well. We got it for $399 with 2 mags and case, pretty good deal. Trigger may take a little getting used to, but it works for me. Gun really feels good in your hand. I would get another in either the 9 or the 40, no hesitation. Good fun gun.

As I said on the range to some folks Saturday..."having a gun you like and can use well is the main point...not just what others think about the gun". Glad you like it...I'll have to try one. Keep it clean and only oil the points book says. Probably the 4 points of contact at the rails and outside the barrel towards front a little and you're good from what I remember of the Sigma. Not like a 1911-A1. I'll agree with the "feels good in the hand"...Sigma did and that's it's base.

Just hate having to wait until December for another gun, although I do have a M&P 15-22 coming in the next few days, so that should hold me over until the 1911....I hope!! At least the .22lr won't break the bank on ammo. Looking for suggestions in the $1K range, all are welcome! Really liking the Kimber, but not married to anything at this point other than it had to be a .45.
