Cant help much but i do have a shotgun news issue with a article on these, ill round it up and see if i scan scan it.
Thank you. This pistol was made in 1928 and they took parts from Tokyo Gas and Electric and Tokyo Arsenal and assembled 672 additional pistols for the Navy. The 8000 serial number range is correct for the intentionally mixed part pistols.

That Papa is sweet! I handled a baby at the Military Collector's Show at D'Iberville last Saturday. Guy wanted $5,000 for it. The holster was rough, but the gun was very, very nice. I'd say over ninety percent. Matching clip, too. You just don't see the Papa's and the baby's anymore.

I can't help you on a price, but thought you might be interested in seeing this Type 94 Nambu "Suicide Pistol". Yes, the magazine is original and serialized to the gun.

I don't think Jap guns get their just due as far as collectability. Ammo prices and availability keep the prices artificially low IMHO. This one cost three hundred bucks, the components to load and shoot it another three hundred. An original holster is worth as much as the gun.

More photos and descriptions of this pistol are at the link below.
