I was reading about the 6.8 round tonight. It looks like a great idea that did not catch on very well. I checked my reloading manuals and it looks as though it would make a good plinker defense or venison rifle. Anyone shoot the 6.8? This article has me thinking about one.
Thanks, BL

He's just about got me talked into one, but all my money is going into a longer 556 and a 762x39 first.

I considered the 7.62 X 39 too but talked myself out of it. And no, I really don't know why I did.
I am doing one mainly because I have a metric crap load of the ammo and I like the round. Basically a cheaper to shoot com bloc version of the 300 blackout. Eventually I will have a short barreled upper in it too. But there's a lot of stuff ahead of that money wise.

I've got a DPMS in 6.8, changed out the stock barrel to a Wilson combat. I like it as it's a handy little round.

Thompson Center Contender carbine and 14"pistol in 6.8 SPC are my main deer guns. Been shooting the caliber for around 8 or 9 years using Nosler 110gr Accubonds. That load is getting scarce so I am going to try the 120gr SST that Hornady is loading. My grandson has been successfully shooting a T/C in 6.8 since he was 6 years old. Recoil is mild, yet it hits hard. Great caliber for us old folks too, easy on the shoulder. Great venison getter in whatever platform you like to shoot :D:D:D.

So many positive comments in such a short period of time. The 6.8 must have something going for it. I was almost ready to go with the 300 BO but I just can't make myself like it. OK, you BO guys, I'm not trying to start a war. I know the BO has lots of followers and it is a great round but I just can't warm up to it. Guess that is the reason Blue Bell makes so many flavors.

How well does the 6.8 suppress? Is there anything that suppresses as well as the 300BLK?
277 wolverine suppresses as well as 300blk. it is VERY close to the 6.8spc out to about 400yds; after that the 6.8 walks away from it. Nice thing about it is; it uses converted 5.56 brass and only requires a barrel change. So is cheaper to shoot than the 6.8. Although I do intend to build a 6.8 at some point I went with the 277wlv first for affordability reasons.
