Not CB necessarily, but HAM, long-range walkie-talkie TEOTWAWKI/Neighborhood Watch/prepper/emergency communications type with interest, equipment, training and/or experience?
(Not cell phone or VOIP)

Looking for info, "guidance" and some direction ... for local & regional, post-EMP Comms. I have some comms now.

Apologies, but another area of interest of mine (besides firearms and politics). ;)

PM sent
Gatlinburg Wildfire Records Tell Story of Chaos, Confusion

(And a massive government emergency and cell communications system failure)
Frequently happens during events when there is a lot of stress, multiple users and not enough channels/dispatchers. Not easily solved either. Think of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Been there and done that as an officer. The radio never stops, and with the amount of radio traffic and crowd noise it's impossible to listen to everything the dispatcher says. Unless you hit your panic button, you may or may not get through quickly.

just saw recently, someone has developed a bluetooth connection to a cellphone, that you wear on your shirt or collar. small round disk...to talk you tap it much like the how the startrek communicators work. it uses your cellphone, and has an app that uses the group abilities of the phone...and you can switch groups by name. also has gps I think.

It wouldn't be of use I would think in a dire emergency, but could be a family friendly way of keeping voice talk to a small group. I can see uses when loading unloading a large boat from a trailer, or docking. or even crane/ forklist operator to his other set of eyes. or a family convoy somewhere. Along those lines. However you'd always be limited to cell tower distance, and zero emp.

Operated a PRC-25 then 77 w/KY-57 in Vietnam Central Highlands, Dragon Mountain. Pleiku.
Some time on AN/GRC-106, and KMW 2A
and AN/VRC-46 & AN/VRC-47. Operator level maintenance skill level only.
I realize some of these are dinosaurs now, but most parts are still available, except the 106. The KY-57 is now UNCLAS, and the Army was using Dedicated Loop Encryption when I retired.
'Know a little about RATT rigs, and secure teletype.

ETA: Must stay away from powerful sources of EMF. Don't want to set off my new CRT-Ds. Cardio Resynchronization Therapy-Defibrillator(s) Therapy is shocking.
