Within the next month I will be purchasing some type of dot sight for my AR. What do you reccommend? I prefer a 1 moa dot and will be staying under $300. Also, if you have one you wouldn't mind parting ways with, PM me.

I got a Truglo 2.5moa and it's hard to see in the daylight, I think I made a mistake buying it. Go with 4moa. Eotech is probably the best but finding one under $300 is going to be hard, there are 3 Bushnell HoloSights on gunbroker right now for less than $300. Eotech builds them for Bushnell, main difference is power button and plastic housing.

I would love to have an EoTech, if I can find one on sale or from another person. Is that an EoTech on KilRoy's? I loved it! I believe it has a 1 moa dot with a larger circle, isn't that right?

Don't remember what the MOA is on the dot.

Quality optics stay with you. You might sell the weapon but always keep the glass. It's very rare at a gunshow to see good optics on any of the scoped weapons is an example.

The old saying is true. "Two things you never go cheap on, boots and optics"

The EOTech that I have is a 552 and does have the 1 moa dot with circle and is no problem seeing it in the daylight. Stick with EOTech. I've tried others and nothing that I've found beats EOTech. We'll go shoot again and I'll carry the AR that I have it mounted on.

I have an EoTech on my AR and a Bushnell on my Hnadi Rifle 44 mag primitive weapon. The difference is the power button and the housing not being on the Bushnell. Had I used the Bushnell first I never would have popped for the EoTech.

Same here -- bought the EoTech and it is great. Was at the range one day and shoot the Bushnell ... no diference, IMHO. Bought the Bushnell for another AR and now how both .. the Bushnell has held up good .... I actually like the Bushnell buttons a little better than the EoTech; especially with the 3X mounted .... Like the metal housing around the EoTech as well as the lens covers that are available for it ...

Alright, so I am down to bushnell holosight and one of the eotechs, preferrably one that uses aa's. It will still be a couple or three weeks before I have my funds in order. Man, putting together that AR has wiped me out! Where did I put the kids' piggy banks???????!!!!

Another thought on this, if I buy the bushnell, instead of the eotech, I will have enough left over to buy a back up sight system. I like the look of the MagPuls. Any thoughts on them or another brand in the same price range? Where can I get the best prices on MagPul stuff? Anyone got some BUS's they want to part with?

I can't get past the fact that they are plastic. (Magpul)

Have you looked at Yankee Hill Machine?

I'm thinking about getting the QDS sights. I saw some with a Spikes Tactical logo on them. They would look great with my lower!

I am also leaning towards the Bushnell holo for my build.

If you want to get a cheaper red dot that still works good, try a Vortex Strikefire. I have had one for about 9 months and it works great! It has always held zero and it is still on its original batteries thanks to the auto-off feature. The dot very bright and the optic is easy to see through. Looks pretty good, too.

4 moa red or green dot with night vision mode, flip up lens caps, and 1/2 moa adjustments. It also comes with a 2x doubler! I think I paid $150 for it. Chicken feed when talking about optics.

Easy on the plastic, that's how I make my living! We make PVC though, probably not what they use in their sights. I like the YHM's, but they are high for my tastes. If I come across some used ones for a good price, I will jump on them!

SubSonix, thanks for the info about eotech making bushnell. Got a pistol I want to put one on. It's not a nail driver so I'm just looking at plinking.
Justin, the magpuls are fine BUIS unless you are mounting it on the gas block, which is where mine is. Was told they couldn't stand the heat.

I own three EOTechs and I love em! All are currently mounted on M-16 uppers although I've used the small N battery model, (no longer in production), on an Uzi and my Max-11 subguns to great effect.

The old saying, "buy once, cry once" is especially true when it comes to otics. Spend 'til it hurts, and you'll own a quality optic that will last a lifetime and you can move from weapon to weapon.
