Anyone have an AR in 300 Blackout? Reading about this caliber on the internet it sounds almost too good to be true. I realize ammo is hard to find but I'm ok with reloading for it. If you've got one and/or reload this caliber, I'd like to know what your experiences have been. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Mine ran good, was a 8.5" 1-8 twist upper with a swr 30 cal can. 220 sierra matchkings were running about 1040fps and grouped around 1.25" at 100 yards. Brass is easily came by and cheap "modified 223". Dies are around $60 "rcbs,redding"and ofcourse it uses small rifle primers. Its essentially the same as a 300 whisper just sammi "regulated" now to supposedley keep all the chambers the same. Most have found that their 300 whisper chambers are the same and in spec to the black out.


Noveske along with quite a few others have barrels ready to roll and i suggest getting a 3 way gas block or waiting on the gas piston uppers to come out.

Does anyone know if a ar with a 16in bbl will cycle subsonic loads Without a can?or would i have to modify buffer spring or gas system, the upper will have a carbine length gas tube, im asking this because im in the process of building this gun but i just acquired 250rounds of factory subsonic ammo for a price i couldnt pass up, thanks guys

My 16in cycles the subsonic hornady 208 whisper ammo just fine.

Awsome i will be shooting some 225grain otm, made by right to bear ammo, never heard of this brand but my brother inlaw bought 800 rounds of it and says its ok stuff, he has a sbr with can ,and also a rem bolt action in blackout

Are there any cheaper barrels out for the 300 blk

you can get them as low at 179 from midwayusa.com. I got mine from them. I definitely prefer 5.56 as of right now. that opinion will probably change when i get to pick up my suppressor though

They cycle fine in the 16" ar. No problems with or without the can. Also the slidefire works well with the subsonic ammo.
