Proposed ATF 4473 Change Includes Three Gender Choices

Our friends at Orchid Advisors have just posted some proposed changes to the ATF 4473 – Firearms Transaction Record. The ATF 4473 is the form most commonly seen by consumers when purchasing and transferring firearms at a Federal Firearms License (FFL) Dealer and includes biographical information, criminal background questions and other information to determine if the buyer of a firearm is legally able to make the transfer. Among the proposed changes, the ATF is including a “Non-Binary” option under the transferee’s Sex question.

Additional information on the ATF 4473 proposal, links to the Federal Register to make comments on the changes and additional information can be found below.
...

And a few other proposed form changes:
  • The question asking the Transferee whether they are under indictment or information in any court for a felony has been revised to include: “or are you a current member of the military who has been charged with violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and whose charges have been referred to a General Court-Martial?”.
  • The question asking the Transferee whether they have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence has been revised to include: “or are you or have you ever been a member of the military and been convicted of a crime that included, as an element, the use of force against a person as identified in the instructions?”.
Etc.

Gotta be PC ...

When the government fails to do its job (i.e., DoD/US Military … think Sutherland Springs TX shooter and the USAF/Holloman AFB), then the feds can nail the individual for "making a false official statement."

Because -- as we've seen -- the feds can't/won't be held accountable or liable.

Checkmate.

So if you identify yourself as non-binary and then later you identify as a man or female is this considered false information on the document? Oh wait this is about feeeeelings so you cannot ever be wrong.

Seriously may God help us.

Many do!!!
My 1/2 peso worth, First thanks for posting, also i know if the law states the driver license address must be the same address put on the 4473, so would the same be for gender? If the state has male/female on the DL then the freak chooses non binary on the 4473 I would see that as disqualifying factor.

If you don't know what sex you are then you're just not wired right. Last thing anyone needs to do is put a gun your hands.

This is SOOOOOOOOOOOO stupid to me. It isn't hard; even for someone as dumb as me. Look down; you either have an inny or an outty (okay some of us might be more outty than others but still). This isn't a choice; it's a fact of life.

I don't care if they put male, female, dog, cat .binary, trans, ****** choices on a 4473 I can think of about 1000 things more important things to fuss about than a sex choice on a stupid ass government form we shouldn't have to be filling out start with.

your gender is what your dna says it is
the last time i looked there are only 2 dna strands for sex
male and female x and y
anything else is not legally legit
The origin and meaning of the word “gender” have long been disputed, but the common belief is that it was created in the 13th century, deriving from the Latin word genus. Originally, gender was used as a broad term encompassing all the different distinguishing factors/subclasses of people (e.g. social class, race/ethnicity, sex, etc.), but many people believe that the word also came about to grammatically classify masculine, feminine, and neutral words. Some say that as early as the 14th century, the term gender became sexualized and later became synonymous with sex, and that it wasn’t until the mid-20th century that social scientists began making a distinction again between sex and gender.
