Hmmmmm
Now lets think:
1-Number of kids that individual could have came in contact with?
2-Number sibling did he come in contact with?
3-Number of siblings attending school also?
4-Number of kids siblings came in contact with?
5-Number of parents individual came in contact with?
6-Number of people parents came in contact with?
7-Now repeat for all those that had contact with the above

We sure can't just shut down life. But really seems like we could mitigate the possibility by schooling from home for a little while longer. Oh gee thats right we've been told they all run the roads while not in school, bad ideal po-po says.

Don't know why they can't wait till after Labor Day at least, school didn't use to start up till then.. I know they have to go so many days but they can make that up in the spring.

Yeah kinda what I was thinking. Wayne county is holding off for now. Private school is not. Thats where my daughter works in the cafeteria. She has a new born and a 1 year old, and a mom (my wife) with auto immune. Touch and go with allot of prayers.

Schools are not in the business to raise children , babysit children or to remove them out of a environment they should not be in. That would be the purpose of child care services.
Dang why don't we just switch over to socialism...............
You forgot: to feed children their breakfasts and lunches ...

That would be the responsibility of their parent(s)/guardian with their EBT/SNAP/WIC benefits.

Here's an interesting article on how schools dealt with the 1918 pandemic in the US. It was the start of some good things such as school nurses, when the majority of children in American cities / population centers lived in closely quartered tenement housing with no health care, playgrounds & exercise (P.E.) programs for those same kids who had no open space in which to play, be a child: playgrounds!
But it also led to many "progressive" programs which I find have become onerous, such as those mentioned by Rig and LVR20. Of course good ol' racist / progressive Woodrow Wilson was behind a lot of it:

[“planning that brings public health, education officials, and political leaders together”, the U.S. Bureau of Education proclaimed that the “education of the schools is important, but life and health are more important.”, making school attendance compulsory, Schools stood ready to deliver not only lessons but food and health care. ] END QUOTES

Of course the entire article, while interesting from a history buff's perspective, does have a "progressive" slant. It is after all written by a ":professor of American and New England Studies" (??? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot does that mean? Is that the new title for a professor of American history?) at Boston University. Just get a load of her concluding paragraph:
:"And a movement, spurred by anger over the death of George Floyd, police brutality and widespread concerns about systemic racism, is demanding that all jurisdictions spend less on the police especially now, when the challenges brought about by the pandemic make funding for public schools more essential than ever. "

Nevertheless, we all have heard the old adage, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -George Santayana, often paraphrased , I won't say 'misquoted', as "those who will not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it". The information is interesting, they didn't let a crisis go to waste back in 1918, as Rahm Emanuel so infamously said of early 21st century crises. Hence the reaction of the left today, using this to push for defunding LE and transferring the $ to public schools, public works. Same playbook, different pandemic, different century.

Stop trying to make anyone that doesn't wholeheartedly toe the line with what you think and pin them as an idiot. I actually thought (naively now I see) that this was the one place that could actually not sink down into that fathom. Guess I was wrong. Have at it and I will stick to liking guns and buying selling guns.
Lol, you haven't been around very long have you? Everyone here is a human (I think) and have the same nature as everyone out there. We used to have a lot of fun with the 9mm vs 45mm and plastic vs steel arguments. I think we just got bored with those and got into politics more.
The only things most here have really mostly agreed on were Obama and the MS concealed carry laws.

Since you brought it up... A Glock is better than a 1911 any day.

@rigrat

Haha. Dude, wasn't anybody crying. I just enjoy a good debate to see opposing views without the childish crap. I thought this was gonna be one of those places. After observing you and some of the other members, it is readily apparent it is not a place like that. To the point you sent a "crying smiley face"? Seriously, how old are you? I am sure your'e a real tough guy so I am going to gracefully bow out and say you win. Your'e the champion of the trolls. I bet you even have a story about how "you almost joined the Army"....but no one wants to hear it. And again.....have a good one and good luck.
Don't think he almost joined the Army before he served in the Marines. Might want to learn more about folks before you try to insult them, just a suggestion on getting along here.
