I recently traded for a Remington mod.7 in 7mm08 shot 20 rnds thru it grouped very good. my question which bullet should i shoot a 120gr tipped or 140 spitzer boattail ,I have never loaded 120 gr anything ,I deer hunt and my longest shots are just over 250 yrs if that much.

The Barnes TSX needs some speed to open and expand. So most people shoot the lighter version that can be pushed faster. My 7mm-08 shoots the 120 grainers very well. Seat them about .050" off the lands and you will be happy!

Several deer and hogs have been "dead right there" with this combo for me.

I've started shooting the 120's, killed two deer last year, I've done some penetration test using soaked phone books, I'll post pics later tonight. I'm loading to the max per Barnes web site, using H414 powder. Not having any over pressure issues.

I've Chrony them, and they are avg; 3200 fps. Real happy with the performance.

IMO the 100 - 120 grain bullet is perfect for deer.. The 7mm-08 fits perfectly between the 243 and the 308 and that's why I like the 120 grain..
