I see some people going with a barrel that's is shorter than 16" with a pinned flash hider. I'm just wondering why if you can't go less than 16" than what's the point? I know sgf has one with an 10" barrel I think so maybe he'll jump in and give he's opinion.

So y'all tell me why. It doesn't matter to me I was just wondering. :idk:

I think the military uses 14.5 inch barrels but I like the extra length to get the speed up. When I get more into reloading, I may can find a faster burning powder.
If your going ot order a barrel shorter than 16 inches, have it sent directly to the guy who is going to tac the flashhider from what I've read. 99% chance nothing will happen if you sent it to your house but I've always been in that 1% club and get busted with no tax stamp.

You can have the barrel without the stamp. It just cant be a completed firearm. You loose about 100 fps per inch shortened or visa versa, so an inch and a half doesnt matter too much on an ar.

First, I bought it for the Sh*ts & Giggles and the "cool looking" factor, plus I got a good deal on it. In the video I got a "sh*t" from Neck... :)

My Oly AR-15 Shortie has an 11.5" barrel with PERMANENTLY attached (pinned & welded) 4.5" XM177 style flash hider. Although with the correct ammo, the flash hider doesn't hide much FLASH..... :)

I am keeping the A2 sights on it because it is my plinking/blasting AR. No, it is not as "accurate" as the 16" & 20" ARs, but I can hit pretty good with it............ I have chrono info, but I can't put my finger in it right now. Seems like I was getting around 2700fps.

OK, now I'm asking "why"?
The correct question is why not?!
I love my 7 1/2" upper. Good for flame and noise and it's a whole lotta fun.
Oh, I understand that! I have a KelTec 5.56 pistol that is crazy loud and a ton of fun to shoot. I have been thinking of SBRing it and adding a m4 stock.

What I was talking about was if you are going 16" anyways, I personally would rather have more barrel for accuracy and getting the "boom" away from my face. :) JMHO There is nothing wrong with his setup.

BTW, nice shorty, Vegas. Daddy likes! All you need now is a folding stock adapter and you could throw that tiny thing in a laptop case, lol.

I think all of the guns I own fell under those requirements. :D All good reasons!

Could you give me a link to a thread or post a pic of it, sub? I want to see it!

Yeah don't get me wrong I don't have any problem them I was just wondering if there was a purpose or was it just a fun gun. I like it but I'm like subsonix if it's got to be 16" why not get all you can get out of it.

................SubGunFan had trigger time on my little toy and seemed to like it.
Oh yeah..... MAJOR FUN ! ! !

The best part about VegasSMG's AR is............ Its an M16 (full-auto). Notice the 4 pieces of brass in the air.........

That was my first UZITalk Shoot (2005) and that one was held in Las Vegas. Those guys kept ragging me about my "hip shooting" of full-autos. But for me, when I am BLASTING away with a full-auto, I want to see all those bullets hit...... Destruction by mass amounts of lead.....

You know, you're A-3 is practically begging for a set of M-4 hand guards and I'm wondering how tall the ladder was you used to get that high above your bed to take the family AR photo.

To me, the 10 1/2" upper looks absolutely PERFECT on a M-16/AR-15... well, maybe with a little less flash hider length than SubGunFans . ;)

I just bought a complete upper with full auto BC, (less hand guards), LMT upper from Jake and should have it by this weekend. This will fill perfectly the gap I have between the 14 1/2" and the 7 1/2" uppers in my stable and if you've ever fondled an LMT you know they reek of quality.
