How much of a accuracy difference wood there be between a factory remington action and a bat action? Woodent the barrel be the main thing that decides accuracy? I'm thinking of putting a kreiger barrel on Eather a bat action or a factory Remington action. I'm talking about accuracy at 500 yards plus not 100 yard accuracy. It wood mainly be a hunting rifle but I want to be able to hit targets at 1000 to 1500 just for fun . If it matters in the decision it wood be a stainless factory action and chambered in 300 win mag.

bat action all the way are any other custom action nesiksa , stiller , many other custom actions out there . there is a reason they cost 1000.00 dollars are more and that is quality bolts fit tighter lugs are mated and true with reciever face aftermarket triggers shilen for example are awesome . you can buy a rem are savage cheaper then pay a gunsmith to true reciever surface grind recoil lug lap locking lugs then you are almost the cost of a bat with the cost of action and work. barrels kreiger is usually my first choice but i have been shooting a brux in a 284 and a 6mmbrx these are just as good as kreiger still the same price around 320.00 are so for the barrel blank. buy the bat , kreiger are brux barrel , shilen trigger ,shehane st1000 stock , top it off with a nightforce scope and come to bogue chitto and shoot with us at 600 yard f-class matches last saturday each month

I have a rem 700 that was trued- shoots great
I have a Jim Borden action- shoots outstanding.
If you knew absolutely nothing about guns or actions and you were to handle them both you would like the borden action better, it just feels tighter and more well fit than the accurized remington action.

If you are looking for a great hunting rifle out to some pretty long ranges a remington will work. If you want superior target accuracy the only way to go is a custom action.

Agreed on the custom actions-However what percentage of shooters can shoot the difference in a custom action and rifle built on Remington action worked over by one of the top shops in the country?
