I didn't realize how expensive the gear was! CR Speed belt, bladetech holster, 6 bladetech mag holders, range bag, 6 extra mags, upLula mag loader and a few other misc. items are around 500 bucks!
Yeah, it's not cheap to do it right. There are some places to cut corners and some that just shouldn't be cut, in my opinion.
Very good advice already, but assuming USPSA Production Division, here are my thoughts for what they are worth:
Belt - CR Speed belt is as good as any thing out there but will run you about $55.
Holster - Bladetech or Comp-tac, $68 either way.
Magholders - you could get away with less than 6. 5 mags on the belt and 1 in the gun (which can be loaded from a pocket before starting the stage) would be fine. (Some even run 4 on the belt and 1 in the gun.) Like Cliff, CR Speed would be my choice, and some places sell a "3-pak" where you save a couple bucks. Velocity Shooter has 3 for $96, but that may not be the best price out there.
Range Bag - you could do without one for a while. I have a friend in Ohio that has shot USPSA for 10 years and despite owning a couple range bags, he prefers some tool bucket deal he got from Home Depot for cheap. It is a 5 gallon bucket with pockets around the inside and outside and a padded lid you can sit on. It's not for everyone, but he loves it. I really like the Shooter's Connection
Range Bag. It is large, well thought out, and very well made. The only problem is it is expensive. Midway ripped off the design and had it made in China and now sells the exact same thing for $100 less, calling it their
Competition Bag. It is a heck of a bag for $40. That being said, I am a little sad to see it as Chuck at Shooter's Connection is a shooter and really supports the sport. He has done a lot of design work and improvements to his bag, and it doesn't seem right that it can be copied and sold so easily. Ok, off of my soap box...
Extra mags - Like the mag pouches, I would recommend 6 mags total. More is nice but not necessary, and you could get by with 5. If it came with two, 4 more from
www.velocityshooter.com would be $88 at $22 each. They were on sale at Area 6 for $20 each.
Uplula - $25. I have tried one and they do appear to work very well, but I've never owned one. It helps that Gram's tuned STI/SV mags are some of the easiest loading magazines I've ever put rounds in. Beven rounds the front so there are no sharp edge to dig into your thumb.
