Bird #2 down. I sat up this morning in a place where I could see down a green field about 350 yards. I didn't hear anything on the roost, but I knew I was in a pretty good spot.I finally heard a hen in front of me probably 400 yards away. She was lightly yelping on the limb. I copied her. We went through about 3 or 4 sequences, and he hammered. I waited a bit and called again and he didn't answer. then I see a black blob running down a trail about 325 yards in front of me kind quartering to me. I threw up my binocs and saw the beard swinging as he ran my way.. He went behind some tall grass and when I saw him again he was in gun range. I clucked and he raised his head for the last time. I had been sitting down for less than 25 minutes. A lot shorter than Thursday's hunt, but just as fun. 9" beard, 1" semi-sharp spurs.
