Reminds me of the old "auto sears" sold in the 70's and 80's for the AR-15. Could pick them up then at any gunshow or order through the mail - no questions asked. For course it was illegal to possess IF you also owned an AR ... Don't know how well or even if they worked as intended. IIRC, you did have to replace the bolt carrier and fire control group.

Interesting concepts if you are into those type things. I can't hardly afford to shoot in the semi mode - would certainly go broke if I had an auto to feed!! :lol4:

Get ready to pay a small fortune, whether you buy a registered lightning link which is worth ten times its weight in gold or if your paying the nice huge fine and spending 25 years in a federal prison for owning a non registered one. Regardless I have plaid with a registered one before and they are awesome, ran .223, 9mm, and .22lr in full auto with one

UHHHMMMM Please do not make one of those. They do work like a champ and unless they are registered they will only cost you $250,000 and 10 years of your life.

The BATF is very clear about this. Anything that makes a gun fire more than one time per trigger pull is a machine gun. Bump fire is perfectly legal. Anything that increases the rate of fire past a 1 to 1 ratio is illegal.

Sorry if that sounded like I was being short or curt. I typed that on my iphone and its all I can do to bang out that sentence. Now I am on a computer and can type a little more. The lightening link and the drop in auto sear are both readily available to the public but they dont tell you the whole story. You can order either out of the shotgun news. What they dont tell you is that you can legally own it, but if you are found with it in the presence of an AR style rifle you have a machine gun. Even if the lightening link is not installed they can still throw the book at you.

You can buy a pre 86 drop in auto sear or Lightening link and use it all you want and it is legal, but if you use one that is not on the pre 86 registry the BATF will not be pleased. Like I stated above the test they use is the 1 to 1 ratio. If you get two or more shots with one trigger pull then you anger the BATF.
