Went to Crosville TN to one of their gunshops. Bought a 6-24x44 KONUSPRO Zoom. After coming back home I found I paid a little too much for it. The model I bought runs between $136 and $140 from what I have found so far. I paid $149 plus tax. Was thinking about taking it back tomorow but from what I would spend on driving 120 miles in gas I wouldnt save anything. So I am just going to use it. ANy opinions on KONUS Scopes?

How much advice do you need to buy an $89 scope?...come on! :lol4:

Be done with it already[/quote]

I want to get the most bang for my buck, no matter how little it is. Thats why I eat off the dollar menu.

Agree with SGF - sunshade is a nice addition and 24X is enough power for a 22 at 100yrds. I actually use a 20X ..... Personal preference on style of reticle may be the deciding factor. THIN reticle lines are of great help; at least for me.

Me and dad both had tasco world class scopes on our deer rifles and i wanna say they were about $300 bucks each back then (15 years ago). dad still has his on his 700 and loves it. i would put that scope up against a leupold any day of the week... wth happened to that company?

I had to take it back today. I found the same scope on opticsplanet.com for $85 with free shipping and with tax I paid $160
Ouch. Not sure if you have a smart phone but if so one thing I've found myself doing is looking at a product in store and then checking online with my phone while I'm standing there to check prices to make sure incidents like the one above don't occur. There are even some apps that can use the camera to scan barcodes and then check the web for prices on that product.

Dont have a smart phone, getting one when I renew my contract pretty soon. In the meantime, Im taking my laptop with me and after I check prices, going to sit outside McD's or somewhere and check online pricing. In fact Im going to Gander Mountain in Hburg tomorow and do just that.

Got the smartphone, it does not work as quick as the Cellular South shows in their TV ads. Nor is it quite as accurate - tried in both Dick's and Bass Pro. Neither store has wi-fi that I could hook into.
By the time I goto Vans, Bass Pro, Academy, Surplus City, a gun store or two plus a few pawn shops...I can go online with free delivery and no sales tax - not bad for 1-3 days wait for arrival.

Your right about that. I actually went with the 8-32x44 BSA from Natchez. It was delivered thursday. I should have listened to all the advice in the first place. I ended up returning four different scopes because after I bought them, I always found way better pricing. Never found a better price than on that that BSA.

I'd bet if you looked on those old scopes they would say "Made in Japan"; now all of that is made in China, with the loss of quality. My best pair of small binoculars is an old Tasco set; it looks like a miniature set of STEINER binos, green, made of metal, HEAVY, rubber coated, fits in a coat pocket - made in JAPAN. I bought these mail order from either Gander or Sportsman's Guide waaay back in 1986. That was quality. Now Tasco is all Chinese.

I've used more than my fair share of "cheap" scopes. I have two Konus scopes and wouldn't hesitate to buy another even if I had the money for something "better". Konus is an outstanding value for the money. Mine have been put through hell without a single issue.
