I would have used a manual oil gauge.

I know this a little late for me to be making a comment about the starter since you've already purchased one but just put it in the "for another time file "
I recently had to buy a starter and the parts guy suggested a " High Torque " instead of a OEM one.
He told me it would turn the motor over at a much higher RPM . Boy , he was kidding !
My 350 starts a lot quicker . Oh , I know I'll get called out on anything that's not 110% correct in this thread ......
but I think the parts guy told me high torque but it may be another term ...
BUT ... All I know it will spin my motor 3 times as fast as it did with the OEM starter !

I don't know how I missed that thread. Never had an old Bronco, but I love the way they look. The green paint is AWESOME. After all you have done with it, a fried starter is just a bump in the road. Can't wait to see it roll.
