Going through all my stuff..... and am somehow missing a few things to complete my bench. One being a case trimmer? I see two different RCBS ones, lyman, forster, hornady. Would love to get a Dillon electric to sit atop the 550 but.... can't swing that much right now.

Any personal dealings and/or recommendations with these would be appreciated.

Yes personal experience with the high-end Lyman .. Do not buy it. After several hundred 223s the collet would not hold ... then tried some .308 and same thing happened. Called Lyman and spoke wiht a tech -- told me I needed to adjust it and find the "sweet" spot .. I tried and tried ... sent it back on my dime and it finally was returned about 3 weeks later missing all of the pilots. Tried and tried to get though to Lyman by phone -- after 3 days finally got someone to answer. Took them another 2 weeks to send the pilots back to me. Tried the setup again and again experienced the same problem -- collets not holding .... put it back in the box and threw it into the attic ... went a bought the $5.00 Lee trimmers -- they actually work great. Of course, I am not reloading for benchrest accuracy, just trim as a safety factor ... They are caliber specific and cheap and work ...

A Dillon is not the best that's out there. Giraud Tool is far and away the best out there and I shot with him at the Louisiana High Power matches. It trims, chamfers, and deburrs all in one step

If you are into baby video's watch this

Here is 10 .223's trimmed, chamfered, and deburred in a minute!

Personally I have an RCBS manual that I remove the handle and chuck in my drill for volume. Recently I bought a 3 way cutter head that trims, chamfers, and deburrs all in one that I should have bought years ago.

It really depends on volume, the first I had was a trim die and a file!

Ive been using the lee zip trim and it works great. But for our high volume i use the dillon on top of my 550. Me and TURKEE trimmed bout 1500 308 and 1000 30-06 in less than 2 hours.
And i do alot of 223 so it helps speed up the process.
Now if i had something to debur and chamfer that fast.

I just bought the full Wilson trimmer kit from Sinclair, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Will try to remember to come back here and let you know how it goes. Was previously using the Lee zip trim, which is really very fast, and a great value for the price. Problem I had was that the little rods that control the trim length were wearing out on the ends -- getting gradually shorter, and trimming my brass too short. I wanted to be able to control the length myself, hence the new trimmer setup.

Well now I will confuse you. I have the Lyman Universal trimmer and to date havent had that first issue with mine and have used it several hundred times.
Glad you got a good one -- What upset me about as much as getting a bad product, was Lyman's customer service ... I know there is the possibility of getting a "bad" one; but if the company will make it good, I can live with that ... Lyman sent me my old one back without all the parts and still not corrected ... I can't tolerate that ..

I use the Lee trimmers for all my standard calibers (about 25 different ones) and a Lyman manual trimmer for the oddball stuff (.38-40, .43 Spanish, .40-82 Winchester, etc). I don't normally load in volume for any one caliber. With the Lee trimmers I can sit on the couch and watch TV while I trim.

Like nondieselman I use the Dillon power trimmer for high volume 223 & 308. Everything else goes through my old Lyman crank trimmer. I cut the crank off & attached a stud for using a portable drill. That saved the fingers a lot. I've still got a sack full of the Lee hand trimmers and still use them occasionally when I need to do just a few.

I tried several and ended up with the Giraud. It is worth the money and wait time. Mine is set up in .308,.223 and .243. You would be welcome to try it sometime...but once you do, you may ask why did I wait so long to get one.

I haven't had to send anything back yet. If their CS is that bad I may not like them after dealing with them :)
