I shoot 180 gr SWC cast bullets in my XD(M). I cast my own and tumble lube them. The mold I us is a 175 gr mold but the bullets come out 180 gr. The first ones I shot left a small amount of lead in the bore but after I added more ALOX to my tumble lube mixture, no more lead in the bore.

I don't know about that............ I saw some jacketed projos going into your S&W 500 one day....... Heck, I shot 2 of them...... :)

However..... I too would rather shoot a lead bullet that I cast over paying (good $$$ these days) for jacketed bullets. I have yet to reload round #1 in 40S&W, but I have all the "tools" and a bullet mold. My bullet mold casts a 155gr SWC bullet. A cute little bullet that looks like a minature version of the 45cal H&G 68 SWC.

When my XD Tactical 40S&W arrives, I will start cranking out lead 40S&W ammo.

Hey -- are a absolutely CORRECT on that one!! When I first bought the revolver, I didn't have a mould and the commercial things were like $2+ each ... Midway ran a special on "blemished" 350 grainers and I bought 200 for like .20 each. Actually, I still have about 50 of them left!! However, I now have two .50cal moulds!! Sorry about that!!
