How hard is it to change out the front site of a GI model 1911? Mainly one that is staked to be exact. I'm thinking about getting one to build off of.

It's fairly easy. You can use a front staker tool or do like I did and use a regular punch.

Or you can mill the slide to accept whatever dovetail you wanted. If your building one this would be the way to go. A lot better sights options.

Well after pondering on this awhile. I decided to just get a Rock Island Tactical. It already has the dovetail milled in it. But man that Colt looked fine! I wish I could get my Springfield & Rock Island blued like Colt blues theirs.

Colt has always been known for their beautiful deep bluing.

Fastarrow you probably could. You would have to come off some big money.

Very easy to change out and stake the front sight. I did 2 of my RIA's , 1 even with trijicon night sights. Just have to make a jig for it to keep from breaking the vial in the front site.

Very ingenious! Now I want to buy that Colt again! My Wife told me once to let my concise be my guide when wanting a new weapon. But I have no concise!
