Well, these are known as the M1892 and were used by the US Army and Navy. It's chambered in .38 Long Colt, not the same as .38 Special though. Was used in the Philippines where it gained a reputation for being weak due to the natives use of drugs. Not sure what else you may want to know about it. I'm not too familiar with the value of these things. Somebody else may have more information there but I usually search GunBroker and look at auction sales that closed to get a general idea of what the market is willing to pay, then adjust accordingly to what I deem fair.
