any of ya'll hunt coyotes? There is a very large and active pack here around my house, and I have permission from several of my neighbors to hunt them as much as I want. Any tips from experienced hunters?

Leave chicken scraps out. Or live chickens. Ivealways known them to dig in garbages and hang around chicken coops. Growing up in MI we weren't allowed to shoot em so we had to gut shoot em so they would run off. They killed a lot of deer and would just leave the deer.

Have never formally hunted them, but farming in the Delta you saw them everyday, I killed many out the window of my truck.

Trap em. They are worth way more alive than dead.
For what? The land owners here just want me to get rid of them.
I was wondering the same thing, if your selling the pelts you still got to kill them to skin them after you trap them.

You trap them and sell them to people who do fox hunting and such. My grandfather breeds and trains walkers to hunt foxes(has 30 or so dogs at any point in time), but when a fox gets out of his pen or dies then a yote will suffice. Walkers'll tear a yote to pieces. He gets pissed if we mention shooting them, he tries to catch as many as possible.

Yep. The pelts from down south dont get thick enough to worry with selling. Only @ $5 -7 dollars each. Live, they bring upwards of $75. Big enough difference to consider.
Where at? They are all over the place here, and one that my neighbor (the main landowner) has seen is every bit the size of a GSD. If they're worth money I'll trap all day long.

If you know of anyone who hunts with dogs in your area they may be able to put you in contact with someone who trains them. I think it's the fox hunters association, but I'll have to check and see. Maybe I can find a link, but I know their annual books and stuff have contact information for breeders and such to get in contact with one another.

Ive never seen my papaw pay for one personally but I'm sure he would, I've seen him trap for other people though and he'd just keep the yote as payment for getting it off their land

There is a man who runs dogs through this area many saturday nights. I don't have his number but I can get it.

I'm mostly interested in the challenge of hunting an intelligent predator. That's what appeals to me about hunting them.

I've got a 22wmr that I'll be using. Yeah I know a .17 would be better, or a .223, but its what I have, so it's what I'll use. I'll optimally be shooting them at >125 yards, so I think it will work fine.

I won't get to do any for a bit because of work, but I expect to have some fun doing it.

Talked to a forestry guy at the pawn shop this afternoon. He said that .22wmr is illegal to use after dark (I assume because of poachers spotlighting deer), but when i'm hunting coyotes just to go to the WFP and talk to a warden and let them know what I'm doing, and it'll be no problem.

You won't catch them in a cage......Leg traps and leg snares.Last I heard $75 to $100 is the going price for live ones.Don't forget you will have to get a trappers lic.
any experience with that? i've personally seen about 20 or so caged yotes that my grandfather has caught out around puckett over the years...and i dont mean snared them and then put them in a cage...i mean we went out in the woods to his cage where the yotes had been caught
