Thats amazing, I hope to collect 1911s one day (when I can afford it) and I definately hope to get deals like that.
Can you look up its history etc. by using the SN like with garands?

I know you can request a letter from the historical department from Colt and tell where it was sent to originally. Other, than that, I don't believe there's much available to trace the history of the gun.
