Been wanting to make a day trip, or maybe an overnite. Got the brochure, checked the website, etc.

Any inside info on must do's or hidden gems?

    Thanx.

Ima take this as a sign that there is nothing worth doing or seeing, there.

The only campground/RV spot that I know of is just north of Gulfport. It borders a creek, and has about a dozen sites, maybe a few more. If you're gonna be in Gulfport, you can come shoot at Coast Rifle & Pistol Club.

Little further up 49 (tween Wiggins & Hattiesburg) is PAUL B. JOHNSON State park. Might check out, if meets your expectations.
    Have taken grandsons years back.

Thank you. I will Google that straight away. My bride and I like to take spur of moment adventures. Day trips in nature, just to recharge the batteries. We like the Wiggins area, but haven't done that park. We canoe the Black and Red creeks. Not much more than an hour, or so away.

Sorry, Twang. I didn't even see your response, earlier. That is a most gracious offer, sir. If I make it that way we will accept your hospitality. Had a wonderful time at the M&G.

That's a huge forest and stretches across many miles. The one TwangBanger mentions is the old WWII POW camp. Neat place, big lake etc. Just north of that a few miles is the Bigfoot horse camp. Primitive camp ground. There is a lot of NF over around Gloster Ms, close to La.

Yall into primitive camping or otherwise?

I like primitive. Backpacked a few sections of the Appalachian Trail many years ago. Had a fantasy about throughhiking the whole 2k miles.

Not too sure about my bride. She loves nature, AND daily showers. LOL

I have made many overnight and day trips on Black Creek. Usually best to go during the week, as you probably wont encounter any others on the creek. Check them out.

Made several trips out of Brooklyn. Last time we went, what few sandbars there were, SUCKED!!! Full of rocks and pebbles. Not real comfy for sleeping. Nice 3 day float usually, though.
