This could get interesting. DHS is "exploring" the possibility of arresting leaders of sanctuary cities.

Someday I will tell y'all how I really feel. :D

  3. And at least ONE leader of a Sanctuary State ... i.e., California's 'Moonbeam' Brown.

Didn't the Supreme Court rule in Printz vs U.S. about the Brady background checks that the Federal Goverenment can't force a state or state officials to enforce federal laws and regulations?

I would love to see a return to enforcement of laws and the Constitution---a tradition abandoned long, long ago.

Much of it started around 1964 with the civil rights and war protesters and drug advocates challenging laws they didn't like in the streets and getting them changed by liberal judges rather than by the legislative and executive branches.

Of course, the national media and the entertainment folks were willing accomplices.

If you could read, it’s about being complicit in the human trafficking part.

Guess we can't pick and choose which federal laws we want to force states to follow:(

Bubba, did they say that they cannot allow states to enforce said laws, or state laws.

Wasn't about state law was about federal laws, if I remember right, that the Brady bill couldn't force sheriffs to do the firearms background checks.

The Supreme Court doesn't have the final say on the issue of Sanctuary city leaders being prosecuted. The branch of Govt with the biggest and most guns does.

Art I, Section 9, Clause 1 (re - migration/importation after 1808) along with the Supremacy Clause (Art IV, Section 2) makes a clear and absolutely air tight legal case for the general government to pursue charges on a sanctuary city, and perhaps even the State leadership of those several States which tolerate and encourage violations of the Laws of the Union.

If DHS goes ahead with this, it could touch off an insurrection. I can see all kinds of not-so-good things coming out of this. The worst of which would be (potentially) an application of Martial Law on a limited basis.

I don't see the government using force to do it, could be wrong though.

They'd ask nicely first - Oh, wait. The Feds already asked nicely. Several times. ;)
