i've havee always liked revolvers, for the same reasons every one else likes them. being a younger guy, i have younger (ignorant) friends.. any way, for a while i carried a s&w mod 28, that belonged to a friend.. loved that gun. shortly after that, i picked up a mod 19 with a 2" barrel as well as a rossi .357 snubby. any way, a couple of months ago, i switched to a glock 26 because it's easier to CC, and greater round capacity.. last night i picked up a model 28 for myself, (i've wanted one of my own for quite some time..) any way, i show my friend, and he starts in like he has in the past about "ugly clunky guns" and "old man guns". and another friend of mine when i showed him my glock said "i'm glad you got away from those six-shooters" ugh.. where do these dumb opinions get formed? recently i worked at a pawn shop, and selling guns was part of my job. well when some middle aged lady would come in, looking for something for protection, and did not know a damn thing about guns, i always suggested whatever .38spl snub we had on hand, because of the idiot proof factor.. and they always responded "nuh uh, i cain'ts be havin a revolvuh".. these are the same idiots that say a glock is junk because it does not have an external hammer, and gravitate twards the clunkiest tank built ruger p95 we have..

to me a good double action revolver is the epitome of functionality and reliability.. what's not to like?

and of course one of the friends mentioned above, is the same guy who i told to get a glock 17 over a beretta 92, and his only argument was about aesthetics.. he did not like the way the glock looked. am i the only one who does not really factor looks into a pistol purchase?

any way, sorry for the rambling..

I am thrilled we got on younge guy on here that has an appreciation for revolvers. For the most part, those who degrade a good revolver KNOW nothing about them and/or have never shot one ... While I do carry an auto (for the same reasons you do) revolvers are what I LIKE to shoot. They are simple, will eat any type ammo, can not "hardly" blow one up, safe to use, easy to reload for, and will not jam. BTW: they put holes in targets and bad guys just as big or bigger than the autos!!

PS: Revolvers are also sexy!!

I like anything that goes Bang, pop, pshoof..

I have a LCR, XD subcompact, XD service... i can pick any of them and carry.
Some people just cant appreciate anything.

Next time you can challenge them.. Tell them to come to a Match at Byram and shoot their pistol.
Pretty sure they will be making excuses when they get beat by a Wheelie.

I prefer revolvers over autos. A revolver won't stovepipe, have mag troubles or have a safety you have to remember. If one round is a dud you just pull the trigger again and a fresh round is there. Lots of autos don't have a secon stike option and you have to clear the round leaving you open to hurt. To me, seeing a loaded cylinder on both sides of the barrel is intimidating. The old saying goes, if you can't handle a problem with 5/6 rounds then you are somewhere you had no business being there in the first place.
I'm getting a Taurus 85 38 spl for Christmas. I will be happy as I can be with it!

Out of the box, revolvers generally shoot much better groups than semi-autos. I have a S&W K38 - 6" that I will stack up against any semi-auto, match grade or not.

I believe the older S&W revolvers are the finest handguns ever made.

I've got auto's and revolvers. I carry an auto but enjoy shooting the revolvers more. With the auto's it seems like I spend more time looking for brass than I do shooting.

A BIG ++++1 and DITTO on that statement.

I think it has evloved from revos to semis. Old School is Revolvers, and New School is Semis.

My take on revolvers..... If you can "master" shooting a revolver double-action, then all other types of handguns are EASY.....

LONG LIVE Wheel-guns.........

I'm a young guy too and I like wheel guns just fine. I have an old S&W pre-model 10 .38 that shoots just fine and is fun to shoot.

That said, its a 6 inch barrel and CC isn't really feasible. I have a 1911 for that, but one day when school is done and I have the cash to expand my collection a little more I'll have more gun in general but a snubbie .38 or .357 is def on the list.

Amen to that. I've got a S&W 27 with an 8 3/8" barrel made in 1980 that's a real sweetheart to shoot.

I do want a semi... 1911 probably... yeah more old school. But I will just have settle with my 3 revolvers for now. As for beauty, pretty sure there is no absolute. Prettiest gun I own is an OLD 12 guage... Parker double barrel.

My S&W686 4" and a pocketful of ammo(cylinder rockets) or a bucket and don't even need a holster if I don't want it. Speedloaders optional, mags not used- cleaning kit after MANY rounds(I clean mine after every shoot). Sure you have a good range of loads(same exact caliber/cartridge) you can use in a good semi-auto pistol but you can put anything the cylinder can handle in revolver. Let me see you put .380 in your Beretta 92. Can you say 9mm Special...Next time your friend has a negative opinion on revolver use take him to the range and run him through the I lost/damaged my mag one-round at a time test. I've had many semi-autos and will not get rid of 1911-A1 but experienced shooters know you do damage loading one round/per in a pistol and if they're coming over the fence it's dang sllloooowww...And if my S&W638(near weightless) is nearby it's .38 all day after you run out of .357.
