I'm just curious, everyone out there, I'm sure has their favorite way of getting a fire started in bad conditions. But I was wondering if anyone else out there uses the same method as I do. Usually I will start by shaving down the most dry stick I'm able to find until I'm able to get a decent amount of tender, and then I will put about a dime sized amount of alcohol based hand sanitizer in a container of some kind (usually a tuna can or something of the sort) and put my tender in on top of it. Once that is lit, then I start with the larger twigs and work my way up from there with larger pieces of wood. I have also used lent out of the dryer as my tender and used the sanitizer in conjunction with that to begin my fire.
