X-Ring has come up with a great idea. Take the 600 yard F class target and reduce it to scale 100 yards.

Here's my Rusty Kimber 82 I got from CMP getting dialed in yesterday at Magnolia.

Many Thanks to X-Ring for the scope mount job.

X-ring is working on some "rules" for a 22 match at my 100 yard range...Just got the berms and shooting platforms done

The idea is to have a cheap way to practice your F class setup etc and get some valuable trigger time without going broke

Pic of 22's here

Mine with a BSA 8-32x44 with AO

Here's X-Rings with a BSA 6x24x44 with AO

Rimfire matches coming up soon...I'll let X-Ring fill in the details

Very interesting. Neck & Capt, how did those "rusty" Kimbers look generally when you were in Anniston? Busy season at work, so I can't make the trip. Wonder about the odds of getting a decent one if I order it. Seems like CMP generally ships the better ones, since those customers can't inspect them.

Rusty Kimbers required.....not really...J/K

guess we will have 2 classes...irons and scoped...I dunno...Gotta talk to match director

Not a rusty one in the bunch when Cap and I looked...best gun deal I've seen in a while

a no brainer

The purpose of this is for you to hone your F class skills on setup, and to get some trigger time...on the cheap...we will shoot 100 yards...600 yard F class target has been reduced appropriately for 100 yards...we were gonna limit it to 24x powered scopes...but we need all the help we can get...

Trust me...that X and 10 ring is small....

You mean I can't use my Model 5 or my 597 Varmit Target?

Bring whatever you want...as long as its a 22

For folks that dont know...bi-pods and rests, rear bags required....we shoot prone..not off a bench...we are trying to make it simulate an F class match as much as possible

Where's the match director?....

Another "wrinkle" we might throw in there...

your ammo may be selected for you on the day of the match...and be issued to you...ie everyone shoots the same ammo...what do ya think of that?
Interesting wrinkle, adds another challenge.

Sorry for the late reply. The course of fire will be. All firing will be from the prone position. We will hang 2 targets per shooter. You will be allowed 5 sighter shots at the sighting ring. After your sighter shots you will fire 10 shots for record at each target for a total of 20 shots for record in a 25 minute time limit. Since this is a walk and score match we will fire on 2 different targets to help identify all shots. We will shoot 3 relays so total shots scored will be 60. The first match will be a trial run and would like input from all those shooting on how to structure the classes. This is not a sanctioned event so we can pretty much structure it the way everyone wants to set the classes up and if we have enough to participate in each class. Any safe 22 rimfire is welcome. Some of the classes I was thinking of and I would like to get everyones input was a 1) Open which is what it says unlimited scope, any front rest, rear rabit eared bag, unlimited weight. 2) Sporter rifle which will be limited to 7-1/2 pounds, scope magnification we may restrict will leave that up for vote, Any rest with rear bag. 3) Position which will be shot on a different target with larger scoring rings, this will be fired with sling and iron sights, And of course the most important class Juniors, I would like to get Doug's input on this especially because Doug runs several successful junior programs at Southwest. Maybe set it up in age categories I'm not sure. We are planning on having a trial run this Saturday at Neck's place. Captain Neck and myself are the so called match directors at this time and would like to get input from everyone. Who knows maybe we can make this a road show and get permision from Magnolia, Southwest to put a few matches on. I will try to post a picture of the target.

We started off with the target blaked in in the center but after Neck and I were straining to see our shots Sunday with the sun in our face we decided to lighten it up so the shots can be spotted from the line through a scope. The 10 ring is 1" in diameter. The targets print on a 8.5 x 11 letter size printer paper.
