I am going to make today Grandkids day on the Board. My grandson, Vance is 6 and has been to the range with me numerous times. He likes to shoot his 10/22 when we go; however, just pointing the rifle down range and pulling the trigger as fast as he can seems to be the normal -- Well the other day I decided it is time to start learning the basics of hitting a target. We spent about 45 minutes at the house going over how to use a scope (figured the scope approach was much easier to teach him than open sites). After drawing several pictures and explaining where the crosshairs go, we headed to the range. Set up a target at 25yrds and put the rifle on the bench with a front rest. Here are the results of our first real day on the range ...

The left bottom group was his first shoots. We went down range and he was so excited that he "killed" it! Went back to the bench and I told him to aim for the head ... that is the second group .... Wish I had taken my camera!!
Here is a picture of the gun he is using .... from another day at the range .. the stock is about 2 inches too long; but he will grow into it pretty fast ...
