Bud's just knocked about a hundred bucks off some of their nice S&W snubbies. 442s, 642s, 1 and 7/8", 2.5", and some with no locks all for $365. Don't know if you can get this in time or if it will even work, but S&W is offering a $50 rebate on J frames that expires tonight at midnight. If you picked up one of these for $315, that would be the steal of a lifetime. Even at $365, it's a nice deal.

Sid, I just found and copied the rebate form and it does cover these guns. I think if we ordered tonight, our invoice from Bud's would have today's date on it. The rebate is good through 12/31. I'm thinking about trying it on that 642 w/no lock. I've always liked those little guns and stainless would be nice, as well.

I have a sneaky feeling that Bud's wasn't supposed to mark these down until tomorrow. Also, S&W removed the rebate info and form from their site. Had to find it some place else, but that shouldn't matter.:)

Well, I couldn't resist, so I pulled the trigger on one of the 642s w/no lock. I've got an invoice dated 12/31 and a rebate form that has to be mailed by 1/15. This may wind up being a pretty fair deal, even though I did use Gold and Guns again and will have to pay a little extra for the FFL fee. Anyways, this is the breakdown, $379.95 for the gun shipped and insured, plus $32.10 FFL fee, less the $50 rebate, giving me a net of $362.05 for a very nice little stainless revolver. I can live with that.:)

BTW, if anyone needs the rebate form, just let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

I'm not much of a revolver person, but at that price, I figure everyone needs at least one. As a matter of fact, Greatgonzo had a nice little 442 that someone else bought out from under me a while back. Kinda regretted losing out on that one. Revos do have their place. Any revo guy will tell you that they always go bang. I've had my eye on this one since I let my little Model 10 go. I may never shoot it, but it'll be around if I ever want to.

Yeah, I could have saved a little on the FFl fee, but it was almost 11 here and I didn't remember which time zone Bud's was in. I needed an invoice dated 12/31 to make the deal work and they had Gold & Guns listed, so I was sorta backed into a corner. Besides that, as expensive as gas is getting, I may have saved a little since they're right around the corner from me. I think they charge a little too much, but they're convenient and I like the folks that work there. I don't mind them making a little extra, especially considering I didn't buy the gun from them. Although, I do have to say that you do seem to get a little attitude from your FFL, no matter who they are, when you buy a gun online. They almost act like you're taking food off their table. Sometimes, I'd like to tell them what I really thought about their prices, but I usually just hold my opinions to myself.

Man, that was fast. Don't know what sort of agreement Bud's has with UPS, but it's special. I ordered this thing about 10 pm Friday night and I'm gonna pick it up at 1 today. One and a half business days and after a holiday, as well. I'm impressed, because I wasn't really expecting it til Thurs or Friday. Sure hope it's as nice as a new gun should be. I know the price was right.:)

They charge me $30 plus tax of $2.10, but I get the feeling I could get away with $30 even, if I claimed I didn't have the difference. I don't mind, especially considering they had a case full of revolvers. None were exactly what I bought, but many were very close. Yes, it is a good day. I'd post a picture, but it looks exactly like the picture Bud's has for the 642. It's kinda dirty, apparently they shoot several rounds through it at the factory, because all 5 holes in the cyclinder are smoked up, but other than that, it's obviously brand new. Pretty little gun for what it is, but they all sorta look alike to me. Revolvers are kinda boring, but effective. Don't know exactly what I intend to do with it, but I am glad to have it. I'm sure I'll shoot it occasionally, but it probably won't go to the range with me all the time. Just another CCW to add to my collection. I guess I'm gonna have to apply for a CCL pretty soon. Too much temptation around here not to have one.:) Just look at my list, almost all of them will fit in one of my pockets.:D
